Vehicle warranty cover

Optional cover that turns an unpredictable repair bill into a known cost. Never a condition of your finance.

  • Optional, always
  • Available on used vehicles
  • Separate from your agreement

Why a warranty is worth considering

A used vehicle can be perfectly sound and still present a large bill. Modern vehicles carry more electronics, more sensors and more sealed assemblies than they used to, and the cost of putting one right has risen accordingly.

A warranty converts that unpredictable risk into a known cost. Whether that is worth it depends on the vehicle, its age, and how much of an unexpected bill you could absorb.

What to look at when comparing cover

Warranties differ far more than their marketing suggests. These are the things that actually vary.

  • Claim limit — per claim, and per year. A low per-claim limit can make a headline figure meaningless.
  • Labour rate — whether the policy pays what your garage actually charges.
  • Component list — whether it covers named parts only, or everything except a list of exclusions.
  • Wear and tear — many policies exclude it, which on an older vehicle excludes a lot.
  • Where you can have work done — your own garage, or an approved network only.
  • Waiting period before you can claim.
